Minimize Risk, Maximize Life (MRML) is a two-hour, evidence-based program for adults. Through guided discussions and the latest research, we’ll help you minimize your risk of alcohol-related health problems while maximizing your quality of life.
Alcohol is the most used and abused substance for people of all ages. We designed MRML to help reduce alcohol’s negative impact on individuals, families, and communities.
Class Goals
Increase the use of low-risk drinking guidelines among adults
Decrease high-risk alcohol use and associated problems
Make it easy to share low-risk drinking guidelines with others, including youth
MRML draws from several sound and effective theories, including principles of effectiveness and techniques for substance use prevention programs.
The class is based on adult drinking guidelines used by both the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
MRML is for adults of all ages. You'll learn low-risk drinking practices that you can apply to your life or share with a loved one. You can also schedule a class for your company, group, or family to help educate others. Schedule a group class.
There’s no minimum number of participants. We recommend a group size of 12-15 people for ideal discussion and participation. We suggest that groups be no larger than 40. Facilitators will incorporate small group activities in classes with more than 20 participants.
Each class is led by a facilitator trained in the latest evidence-based research. Facilitators are trained professionals or lay people in social work, prevention, education, counseling, ministry, community centers, retirement communities, EAPs/workplaces, the military, sports, and parent groups. MRML can be delivered in two hours. It can be delivered all at once or broken into smaller segments. Optional activities included in the curriculum can expand the class, but should not be used in place of core content.
